about the exHibit

  • In a time of growing fear of the Otherness and so often of the other's religion, this photographic exhibition proposes to take a different look at the interreligious interactions around the Mediterranean, where the many branches of the three monotheisms - Judaism, Christianity, and Islam - are often intertwined.

Inviting everyone to step aside from their representations, the exhibition is presented as a pilgrimage in images around a circular Mediterranean, moving from one holy place to another. The faces of men and women, the rites and places of pilgrimage that resonate silently with each other, sometimes thousands of kilometers away, are discovered entangled.

The objective is to inform the phenomenon of the frequentation of the same sanctuaries by faithful of different religions. Little known in Western Europe, these crossings are, however, much more common in the so-called "Eastern" countries, from Morocco to the Middle East. This is also the case in the Balkans, which were durably marked by the imprint of the Ottoman Empire, one of whose characteristics was to guarantee freedom of worship to religious minorities.

  • The photo and video exhibition “Prier dans le lieu de l’Autre” (Praying in the place of the Other in French) has been traveling in Morocco since 2022. Until now, it has been presented at:

  • The exhibition was accompanied by a series of conferences by the curator and photographer on May 9, 2022, in Marrakesh; on Feb. 16, 2023, in El Jadida; on March 15, 2023, in Casablanca; on Dec. 1, 2023 in Essaouira.
